What if…?

Since starting on my quilt design journey I have become very aware that creativity is fluid. I am constantly asking myself, “What if I tried this?” A design is never truly done. A quilt can be finished, but possibilities for something else to do with a design seem infinite.

I had promised an update of Missing Pieces and Fanfare, but while trying to perfect the designs those two pesky words, “what if” came to mind. This resulted in some happy little accidents which produced better designs. Missing Pieces has become Color Tangles, and Fanfare has morphed into Fandemonium. For this post I will concentrate on Color Tangles.

Color Tangles uses the same beautiful Century Solids fabric that was shared in my previous post, White is Never Just White. I simply found a way to arrange them that is a more exciting presentation. Although, the colors are so rich and vibrant, especially contrasted with a dark background, there is hardly a wrong way to present them. As you can see from the picture, I have the pieces cut and organized and will start putting them together today. I have kept my previous color placement scheme as I still find it pleasing. This quilt will go together relatively quick and easy so I will soon have progress photos to post.

In the meantime, my Christa Watson fabrics have arrived and I can’t wait to cut into them for Fandemonium! I have promised myself to finish one quilt before starting another, so that will have to wait. It remains to be seen if I can keep that promise.
