White is Never Just White

It was exciting to open my website and offer my newest quilt patterns last week, but I am not letting the dust settle here at Nancy Messuri Designs! I have started my next two quilt design projects, Missing Pieces and Fanfare and can’t wait to share them. For Missing Pieces, I purchased the most beautiful rainbow of Century Solids fabric by Andover at my favorite local quilt shop, The Quilt Crossing in Boise, Idaho. The fabric rainbow is prepped and ready for its day in the sun. The Christa Watson fabric for Fanfare will arrive soon and the anticipation is killing me.

My love of color, and I mean lots of color, can be attributed to my mother. She was an amazing artist and often said, “White is never just white.” Her whites had every color under the sun in them but somehow still looked white. While I never took up painting with oils like her, she used to tell me that I “paint” with fabric. I took that as quite a compliment considering the source.

For now, I will let you imagine what Missing Pieces and Fanfare will look like. Wouldn’t it be fun to compare versions? I doubt any two of us would picture the same thing. Human imagination fuels art. All we need do is unleash it.

Expect a few teaser as I progress, but there will be no peeking at the full view until completed.
