Last year my daughter, Andria McCarty and I attended QuilCon 2022 and had so much fun we vowed to make it an annual event. This year we ventured to Atlanta, Georgia to attend QuiltCon 2023. QuiltCon is the largest modern quilt convention and draws quilts from all over the world. And even from Idaho! My quilt Ripple Effect was selected to hang in the show. It was such an amazing thing when we first spied it. I wanted to sit down and cry. It was made even more special with Andria by my side.

One of the best things about attending QuiltCon is that you get to turn Instagram friends into real friends and reunite with old friends.

In the top photo above, in the middle is my good quilty friend Christa Watson of Christa Quilts who is an amazing fabric designer and quilt pattern designer. I have been using her fabrics with my designs for years. On the right is my fellow Benartex Ambassador, Laura Strickland of Orange Blossom Quilts. It was so nice to meet her in person! The bottom photo is Lisa of dcn8vquilter and Christa is on the right. Lisa and I share a love of working with Christa’s fabrics and it was wonderful to capture this moment.

The above photo on the left is with MariaPaz of Sakura Quilting who travelled all the way from Chile to attend the show. On the right is Michelle of Compass and Wildflower. It was so wonderful to meet them in person as we have long admired each others work on Instagram.

It was nice to get recognition on Instagram from Moda Fabrics, Benartex Fabrics, and Electric Quilt. The quilt was made with Moda Grunge and designed with Electric Quilt 8. It’s fun that Benartex is pointing out the tote I made with their fabric as a Benartex Ambassador.

And it wouldn’t be QuiltCon without the loot! We spent a lot of time searching through the vendors stalls. Andria’s take is on the left and mine on the right. She was after fabric and I was after gadgets. It’s safe to say we will go again next year to QuiltCon 2024 in Raleigh, NC. We are already saving our pennies!
