Dreams and Other Assorted Delights

There is nothing like spending a week with your adult daughter sharing the love of quilting. We shopped and sewed to our hearts content. She found a great pillow sham for us to make, Chilly Nights by Chris Malone, and I helped her finish a special Christmas quilt for her dad. We finished it just under the wire, and I still can’t believe we did. Our next big adventure is meeting up at Quiltcon in February. A first for both of us!

Christmas Project 2021

Lots of excitement happening here at Nancy Messuri Designs. I am so happy to share that my quilt, “Dream Keeper” has been published in Quiltmaker Magazine’s Jan/Feb 22 issue! The magazine is now available on newsstands. Grab your copy to get the pattern for this and many other beautiful projects. I am also honored to be a featured designer!

Dream Keeper

I have been bursting with new quilt design ideas lately, and one of them recently bubbled up to the top and wouldn’t let go until it was finished. It is the latest pattern in my shop, “Pear.” It is more artistic than my other designs and is a nod to my mother who was a very talented artist. I designed, made, wrote the pattern and had it edited, and had it quilted within the space of a month. It was a whole different design experience for me and I hope for more exciting inspiration like that in the future. Because of its insistence, I squished it in between the recently published “Cosmic Rainbow” and my next patterns for “Square Headed Boyfriend” and “Square Headed Girlfriend,” lovingly referred to as the “Square Heads.”

Another design I have been having fun with lately is “No Right Turn” featuring Christa Watson’s new fabric line, Black, White, and Bright. It will be appearing in my shop shortly after the “Square Heads.” Rather than a block sampler, it is a fabric sampler that shows off the new line in a very fun way. Wait until you see the back which was made from the scraps!

A sneak Peek at the top before quilting

I can’t wait to get started on the other designs in my queue. Since I already have fabric for them it makes it so difficult to wait to get started. Be watching for more fun to come…
