I hope your summer is off to a great start and you have some fun vacations, picnics, and family gatherings planned. I am looking forward to a trip to the Oregon coast which is one of my favorite places to visit. I have many wonderful childhood memories of playing on the beach with my siblings. We vacationed there most every summer and my favorite campground was Beachside. We loved playing hide and seek in some logs that had been washed up on the beach who knows how many years ago.

On to happenings in my quilt design studio, I have uploaded my fourth quilt pattern, Fandemonium for sale in my shop! Those of you who love foundation paper piecing will love this pattern! It features intricate hexagons that interweave with an offset, diagonal design within the quilt center. I hope you will take a peek in the shop for more information such as fabric yardage. Please spread the news to others who may be interested in making this design! It is my third pattern using Christa Watson fabric for Benartex. As you may have gathered, she is one of my favorite fabric designers. Below, my other two quilts with Christa’s fabrics are displayed. As always, you have the option to use your favorite fabrics to make it your own.

I recently submitted a quilt design to Quiltmaker Magazine. I am happy to tell you that my submission was accepted for publication into the Jan/Feb 2022 edition! It will be my first publication so the quilt will always be near and dear to my heart. I would love to share some photos, but I am under contract to not share any images, at least until the magazine is on newsstands in November. Perhaps you will grab a copy for yourself!
I am currently working on a design soon to be uploaded to my shop that I am in love with. I thought it would be finished by now, but the magazine quilt had to come first as there was a very short timeline to get it submitted to the publisher. I frequently post progress pictures on my Facebook page (Nancy Messuri) and on Instagram (@nancymessuri.) Feel free to friend or follow me on these sites to see what I am up to. I am using the Spectrastatic fabric line by Guicy Guice for Andover. And yes, it is just as vibrant as it sounds. Plus, I am happy to be learning a new to me piecing technique that has opened a new level of design capability.

There are more designs and collaborations I am looking forward to, but I will save this news for anther blog post. I hope you have some lazy, carefree days of summer ahead to enjoy! And don’t forget to have your favorite quilt with you to snuggle up with or use for a special picnic.
